Timber Care Guide
Everyday care
Dust regularly with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth, following the grain. Wipe spills immediately — water left to sit can mark lacquered finishes. Avoid silicone-based sprays and harsh chemical cleaners; warm water with a little mild detergent is all solid timber needs.
Protect the surface
Use coasters under drinks, placemats under plates and felt pads under décor. Never place hot pans or cups directly on timber, and lift objects rather than dragging them. For dining tables, a tablecloth or runner during heavy use adds easy insurance.
Light, heat and humidity
Timber is a natural material that responds to its environment. Keep furniture out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent uneven fading, and away from heaters, fireplaces and air-conditioning vents. In very dry or humid conditions, small seasonal movements in solid timber are normal — a sign of real wood, not a fault.
Caring for different finishes
- Lacquered surfaces: wipe clean, no polish needed.
- Oiled finishes (like Danish oil on custom pieces): re-oil lightly every 6–12 months following the product directions.
- Recycled timbers: embrace the character marks — they're the point — and care for them the same way.
Leather and rattan
Dust leather with a dry cloth and condition every 6–12 months with a quality leather conditioner. Keep rattan away from prolonged moisture and vacuum the weave gently with a brush attachment.
